Dr. Michelle Obertacz, ND, L.Ac is a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist who specializes in natural medicine for women's health, endocrinology/reproductive health, pediatrics and pain management. She was born and raised in Northern Ohio and after receiving her B.S. in Biology she relocated to Seattle to receive the best medical training in the field of Natural Medicine through Bastyr University. Her clinical interests are in hormone imbalances, women's health, fertility, pregnancy and postpartum, autoimmune conditions, men's health/urology and digestive disorders.
She received extensive clinical training in preventative family medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has trained with some of the leading NDs, MDs, and L.Acs in women's health, pediatrics, and urology. She has devoted over 500 hours of clinical service to under served populations in Seattle and in Ghana, West Africa. During her medical volunteer work in Africa she realized the importance of making excellent medical care accessible to each individual through medical home visits.
During her clinical education she fell in love with women's health and midwifery care. She felt very lucky to have many options for a safe birth available to her during her pregnancy and is an advocate for natural child birth. She works closely with Midwives and OBGYNs in Seattle as a postpartum/lactation specialist and provides medical care and acupuncture for preconception through postpartum. Dr Michelle loves meeting new families and providing comprehensive pediatric care. As a Mama of two, her goal is to make complementary health care accessible to every family and devotes part of her practice in Seattle to home visit services for new families.
She encourages her patients to be active participants in their health care and takes time to answer questions and explore options. She does not recommend treatments or procedures that she would not give to her own family. She strives to be the family doctor that she has always wanted for herself, her family and community. She also provides family care to the community of Vashon Island at Vashon Natural Medicine. She lives in Ballard with her family and busy toddler, Oliver. When she is not devoting time to her patients she is spending time with her family and friends exploring the abundance of beauty in the Pacific Northwest.
